How can we save water? Availability of water on earth.
Impurities in water
Availability of water
Almost 70% of the earth is covered with water. Yet, about 97% of water available on the earth is in the oceans and seas. This is salt water and is unfit for human consumption. Only about 3% is Freshwater, of which more than 2% is found in the ice caps and glaciers of the Polar Regions. This can’t be accessed by us. Less than 1% of water is present in the rivers, lakes, and ponds. This is potable water available for living things to use. Without water many parts of the world will be affected by famine.

Impurities in water
Water that we get is not pure. It contains many impurities.
Impurities can be soluble or insoluble. When impurities dissolve completely in water, they are said to be soluble impurities.
Impurities that do not dissolve completely in water are said to be insoluble Impurities .impure water also contains disease-causing germs.
Drinking impure water can make us sick.
Therefore, impurities must be removed from water to make it drinkable. Boiling is the safest method of water purification.
